Taster session

Our taster sessions are a great introduction to the Breathworks approach to Mindfulness for Pain, Illness, Stress and Well Being. We will look at what mindfulness is and discuss a few common misconceptions. There will be opportunities to experience some of our meditation practices such as a body scan and breathing exercises.

Next taster session

15 July 2017, from 2-3pm, at Manchester Buddhist Centre. Cost is £5.

You don’t need to book for this event, but to help us get a sense of numbers please click here to express an interest in attending.

kindness and compassion workshop

Towards the end of our courses we introduce a kindness meditation, and this workshop is designed to help us take it further.  There is now a solid evidence base showing that kindness is good for us on many levels, psychologically, emotionally and physically, and it’s been shown to be very good at reducing stress (see kindness page on this website for more info). “I’d like to say a huge, heartfelt thank you for the truly wonderful workshop on kindness and compassion. I enjoyed all the aspects of it very much indeed, and have learned a great deal to take forward into both my meditation practice and my daily life. I came away feeling a profound sense of inner peace.” One of the most meaningful aspects of the workshop for me was meeting and practicing with other people who have similar stories to me to tell, and knowing that there are other people who know where I’m coming from right now. PLEASE do some more workshops. I’ll be first in the queue (again)!!” (Email from someone who attended a Kindness and Compassion Workshop)

refresher session

Nearly everyone who attends a mindfulness course gets a lot out of it, but what happens when the course finishes? To experience the lasting benefits of mindfulness it’s necessary to continue to practice. Many people find it hard to keep their mindfulness practice going and so we offer regular refresher sessions to help rejuvenate practice that may be flagging, and inspire people to keep going. It is so worth it! Here are a three messages we received after the Refresher Session in December: “Thank you for running today’s refresher session, it was great to see you again and I really enjoyed reconnecting with some of the practices (both old and new to me). It was also really good to meet some new people and hear their experiences, and get some encouragement for renewing my own practices.” “Many thanks for leading such an enjoyable and varied refresher session yesterday! It really has strengthened my resolve to practise regularly.” “I also wanted to say again how helpful I found the refresher session last December, since then I have restarted my daily practice using the various short meditations from your cd and thought again about how I might bring more mindfulness to my life (even if it’s just waiting for the kettle to boil, or remembering to only do one thing at a time).”

Next Refresher Session in 2017

28 October 2017, 2pm – 5pm at Vajra Hall, Manchester Buddhist Centre, 16-20 Turner Street, M4 1DZ. Cost £35, £25 low income.
